INTERIOR DESIGN Q&A

HOW LONG DOES THE INTERIOR DESIGN PHASE TAKE?

  • There is a pre-production process of design pricing, organizing, and having everything we need ready. As a result, the design phase for small projects typically takes about four months, and for medium-size projects approximately five months.

  • Clients usually need an at least two weeks to digest the design plan prior to giving their feedback.

  • Clients will often see multiple revisions of the design before we proceed to the next phase.

  • For an entire new home, the design process requires a much longer time frame. You should prepare for a minimum or six months for design. In fact, it’s common for a 2500-3000 square-ft. home to take a year to design. There are a lot of details to figure out: trim, doors, flooring details, the selection of every fixture and switch plate.

WHAT CAN SLOW DOWN A DESIGN-BUILD PROJECT?

  • Weather remains unpredictable, and could always affect construction.

  • Prep Work

  • Order Changes by the client

HOW LONG DOES THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE TAKE?

As with the design phase, the build process will vary per project:

  • A small deck can take a week or two.

  • A kitchen or bathroom remodel on average four to five months,

  • A larger addition is eight to nine months.

  • A new home up to 3,000 square feet 10 to 12 months.

  • Homes that are 5,000 square feet 12 to 18 months.

Construction involves a lot of details that take time and some phase can’t start until another is finished. Building permits, Inspections all take up time. All depends on the contractor.
